Having not updated this journal since May of last year, I think it's time for a little update! So a simple new layout and a run-on paragraph summing up the last ten months of life to get 'er out of the way:
In May of 2009 I graduated from Digital Animation college feeling only slightly more educated and even more aware that hard work, assertion and confidence means a million times more than an education when it comes to getting places professionally. I was offered some animation work at a local Maritime studio during graduation time but graciously turned them down - success on the college front but its not what I want to do. I moved back to Halifax, was fortunate enough to nab an amazing job, paid off my student loans in short time thanks to several part time jobs during the remarkably-un-time-consuming-college-experience, moved into a decent apartment and continued my freelance work on the side. I've since expanded my freelance clientel, grown
Kuriousity to the point where I've been able to bring aboard a great crew of writers to contribute, been even more buried alive in manga, lettered some more comics and attended San Diego Comic Con 2009 as official press. In most recent news I've paid to attend
Anime North and
NYAF later in the year (anyone else going?) and am seriously considering trying to slip a trip to San Francisco in there as well (can any boys' love fans figure out why? ;3 ).
Along with everything else the CanCon East staff and I have also been busy preparing for
Animinitime! Coming to Halifax in April 2010 and Moncton in July 2010 ^^ Both events are going to be tons of fun and its been a fantastic experience organizing them and working with the dedicated team.
The jist - work, work and more work! The mantra of my life - but it's been great. There's been some not so great moments over the last year of course but the same can always be said. So many amazing things on the horizon (bitten by the travel-bug!) and hopefully amidst all the writing and designing I'll still fit in some time for the fun little doodles that keep my DeviantArt account from getting too dusty! But for now my DA journal has been updated, a couple pics have been added and I continue my DA lurking to see everyone's awesome-tastic work.
'til next time - all the best!
